Proposed Amendment to Georgia Plumbing Code to allow reuse water
The "Recycled Water Guidelines Workgroup”, a committee of city and county officials, state regulators, code officials, system designers, plumbing contractors, and other interested parties has drafted an amendment to the Georgia Plumbing Code to allow reuse water to be used for toilet and urinal flushing in hotels, condos, offices, and other institutions.
The amendment pertains to reuse-quality effluent from facilities permitted by the Georgia Environmental Protection Division (EPD) specifically for reuse. If approved, the amendment will go into effect in January 2011. The workgroup is also preparing a guidance document to facilitate implementation of the amendment. The guidance will be issued for public comment in the summer of 2010 and will be finalized before January 2011.
